NOTE: Three stories I have recently published—The Lady, The Green Lane, and Jewel the Pixie)—got me wondering about the the plausibility of the færie story.

My conclusions, detailed in the essay below, surprised and delighted me.

There are Færie Roads in England. One can find them in the English countryside, if one knows where to look.

Old roads start or end abruptly at walls or hedgerows that themselves haven’t changed in centuries. The reason for this, as the name suggests, is that these roads, now closed, lead to Færieland.
