Payment Schedule
Payment will be:
- 1/3* due on commencement of project,
- 1/3 due at the halfway point,
- and the final 1/3 upon delivery.
*Total payment will be calculated in advance based on:
- the estimated time to completion, or
- the estimated word length of the finished piece.
NOTE: At the completion of the project (before the final payment is made) the total fee will be recalculated, only if actual time or word count is less than the estimate.
Editing Fiction – Development, Copy, and Line Editing
DEVELOPMENT EDITING (1 CENT PER WORD)
Focusing on the big picture only: plot, character, setting. Will comment on larger structures and provide detailed critique.
COPY EDITING (2 CENTS PER WORD)
Also called Content Editing/Proofreading. Fixing redundancies, inconsistencies, improving flow and readability. Will restructure sentences and word choice to improve readability. Will not comment larger structures (plot, character, etc). The goal is to improve clarity without affecting your writing style.
LINE EDITING (3 CENTS PER WORD)
Also called Substantive Editing. Basically a combination of both Development and Copy Editing plus can reorganize paragraphs to improve flow, removing paragraphs that do not contribute to the plot, leave suggestions for adding detail/story content in specific places. Will not add characters or add to the story, but can make such recommendations for you, if that is what your book needs.
Ghostwriting Fiction per Hour
My rate is $75 per hour. If research is required, an additional fee (negotiable) will be charged. Royalties for (non-self) published work excluded, as well.

My rate of $0.75 per word. If research is required, an additional fee (negotiable) will be charged. Royalties for (non-self) published work excluded, as well.
Freelance Blogging, Essays
My rate is $0.50 per word for a blog post/essay.
Freelance Writing – Creative Copy, Reviews of Books, Movies, Etc.
My rate of $50 per hour for research and writing.
